The Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation (EVSC) is a public school corporation serving Evansville, Indiana and Vanderburgh County. It is the third largest school district in the state of Indiana, behind Indianapolis Public Schools and Fort Wayne Community Schools. The headquarters are located at the Evansville Civic Center Complex. The school district serves nearly 23,000 students educated by more than 1,600 teachers.
The Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation comprises 35 different schools – twenty elementary schools, ten middle schools, five high schools, three alternative schools, and two charter schools.
On November 4, 2008 voters approved a $149 million bond issue for the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation. A long list of projects includes a new $58.2 million high school for 2,000 students and an adjacent $27 million middle school for 1,000 students.[2] The new high school will bear the name of the high school it replaces, North High School (which will be sold after the completion of the new school). It will also retain the Huskies mascot.
